  1. Gorgeous play! It represents the drama of totalitarianism while focuses on the conflicts between history and culture, history and knowledge; and ultimately, between history and poetry.
Beautifully balanced by the artwork hanging on the walls and the poetry of the performance, the three extraordinary actors support the intention of the playwright to transform the stage into an art gallery where History is not knowledge; it is perhaps a voracious repetition of facts, a subversively poetic vendetta where “victim and executioner.” "bark at each other"

  2. I find that The Abyss Of The Birds is an excellent theatrical representation an excellent work, with a very universal message. What I admire most of the work is that the message is given in an abstract way, the movement of the actors and the control over their body is spectacular and that gives more strength to the message. One can not deny the creativity of Varela who besides being an excellent painter has managed to capture all his experience of the abstract world of his painting and take it to the theater. Enjoy a lot watching this work that is not only creative, but also innovative

  4. Beautifully well made play, great use of space and the exchange of lights. The music was an excellent way of intensifying the drama with the train track noises and the lowering of lights gave it also a subdued yet mysterious touch. Amazing paintings and passionate actors with such great skill of poetry.... what more could you ask for?!?!
    Definitely would come again !

  5. It is impossible to participate in this theatrical work without remaining in your memory and personal files as one of the greatest experiences. It is impressive up to the use of silence, the peculiar way of taking me to reflection. The intellectual potential and the effort of the assembly and performance of the actresses and the actor exceeded my expectations. But the most important thing is that while the time elapsed as an expectant, I left with the sensation of seeing it again, as if there were still spaces to fill given the depth and handling of the main theme. The objective of the author of communicating is fulfilled. I was very pleasantly impressed, it was like a "Deja vu" Impossible to stop thinking. This work deserves to pass to posterity is a great teaching even for any generation, it does not matter creed religion nor the origin In my opinion the subject is payable to any latitude and space !!! Congratulations "" "

  7. Why is it so hard to find theater this great anymore? This is the type of play that has something for everyone. It manages to navigate through the realms of the deeply conceptual, the seemingly ordinary and even the comedic and entertaining. I found it was very smart the way they kept a constant interplay of voice, visuals and physical motions that, together, added very interesting layers/dimensions to this particular work. Teatro Obstáculo is definitely on to something special here. They just owned the stage and wowed the public that special night I saw them. The whole cast seems very organic and professional, involved and inviting. And yes, by all means I agree with friends that said this is the kind of impressive work that warrants more than one viewing. So as soon as I find out they are putting up this production again, trust me I will be first in line.

That's right, Cubans and Americans live a real abyss. The ones with a project of authoritarian constitution that will be approved in February disguised as a referendum to legitimize a dominant, exclusive and abusive ideology, the others with a government closure (the longest in American history) that maintains 800,000 federal workers without receiving a salary for more than 22 days and without a clear date specifying its reopening. This expresses the clear discontent existing in both parties with the policies of the US government. The abyss of Cuba an antidemocratic constitution that immobilizes the future, and the abyss of the United States, "an impasse of more than $ 5.7 billion for the construction of a wall along the southern border" (1). "The Coma-ander asks about the play" (2) and responds equally to the same name Donald Trump or Miguel Díaz Canel.
